When I meet up with clients 12 months into ownership to put them through training one of the most common statements they say is “I’m not sure if they will still do it because they’re so soft and loving”.

It’s because they see their dog on a daily basis as a family dog - going to the mall, to the beach at family events, etc. Then when they flip that switch and the dog that is very much a family member becomes a wall of teeth and noise it surprises them.

I don’t like the label “attack dog” because it raises so many negative connotations. More ‘pets with a tool kit’ or ‘K9 Bodyguard’ works better for me because these dogs become very real family members.
